I eventually became a childbirth educator with The Florida Outreach Birth Project and a Certified Doula with DONA. I have also worked for The Brevard Healthy Start Coalition as the Momcare Coordinator.
As I approached the age of 40 I started reevaluating my life, my mother was not as lucky as I was to actually reach the age of 40, and I decided life is too short not to follow your dream. So I enrolled at The Florida School of Traditional Midwifery, commuted 3 hours up and back every week for 3 years. I proud to say I am a Florida Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife. I look forward to serving the families of my community. The pictures below are of my transformation of becoming a midwife. Some of the pictures are of a trip we took to the Dominican Republic/Haiti in March of 2010. Serving the moms and babies while we were there was a life changing experience and it reaffirmed to all of us that life is precious and it is an honor to be present at births.
I live with my very supportive and loving husband Ralph of 20 years and we have an incredible, awesome son Malachi, 21, who is my inspiration.
